- Operating the fireplace with a closed door is by far the most efficient and safe method.
- Open-door burning is only permitted if the fireplace model is specifically certified for open operation and all chimney flue calculations have been tailored accordingly.
- An open fireplace must never be left unattended due to the risk of flying sparks or falling embers.
- Always burn dry, split firewood and avoid resin-heavy wood that crackles and sparks excessively.
- Avoid using air-depleting appliances (such as a powerful kitchen extractor hood) on the same floor without active makeup air, as negative air pressure can pull smoke into living areas.
Combustion Air – Circulation – Fresh Air
- Combustion air inlets must remain open and unblocked; never modify the factory airflow settings.
- During burning, all convection warm-air grilles must remain open to prevent heat entrapment around the insert.
- Ensure that no combustible materials or furniture are placed within 80 cm of the front glass.
- Flammable objects must also be kept at least 5 cm away from the outer casing of the fireplace structure.
